Final 2015 update and 2016 calendar items

Congratulations to us! We were the top ranked rowing club in the Concept 2 Holiday Challenge. Members logged over 6.6 million meters from Thanksgiving to December 24! Arthur, Jared and Ralf exceeded 300k each. George, Lori, Amanda, Lyn, Sheila, Scott, Chris and Steve were over 200k. Twenty-two more members logged more than 100k.

With over 17 inches of rain in the gauge for December (normal is 6+), it’s no wonder that we haven’t been able to row since early in the month.

The river is calming down (87k cfs flow, 2.0 fps speed) so there’s a good chance of rowing this weekend, unless freezing weather keeps us off the ramp. We have rows scheduled for January 1 and January 2 at 7am. Dock debris could be an issue, and careful clearing may be needed.   Leslie and Kelsey will be there to coach on New Years Day. Peter will join them on Saturday.

Erg trainings have been well attended—and we have not had to turn people away. Remember that while the women have priority on MWF mornings and the men on TTH, there should be enough ergs for anyone who shows up. Note that Rose City RC uses our ergs from 4:00pm-615pm on M,Tu, F, and until 545pm on W and Th.

We have been forced to move our trailers out of the OMSI lot temporarily. If you could store a 15’ launch trailer at your house for a couple of months, let Peter know.
