Welcome to spring–the spring with daylight in the morning!
•Thank You to Life Member Bob Walters–his contribution put our new oar fundraising drive over the top. The oars are being used daily–and just in time for the high season.
•Breaking News!–Swing Shift Rowing
We are excited to announce a new coached member program–the “swing shift”. This program will run every Tuesday and Thursday at 6:45am starting May 15 (until October 31). The swing shift will be an “open row”, open to any member, sweep or scull. Use it to get some extra water time, or make it your primary weekday rowing shift and get two extra hours of sleep! Coach Sarah will run most of the practices, and we plan to be back to the dock around 8:15am. (Note: rowers attending this session will need to find street parking–our lot is off limits after 7:30am)
If this program is popular (and we think it will be), we may eventually make it a permanent exclusive session, for members that choose it instead of our 5:00am weekday offerings. But for now, anyone can give the swing shift a shot!
•National Learn to Row Day–June 2
Our annual FREE Introduction to Rowing Class–June 2, 10am-noon. Tell a friend, bring a family member. No registration needed.
•Regatta Signups
The coaches are working hard on Regionals lineups. Note that the May 15 deadline to sign up for Cascadia and Nationals is fast approaching. After May 15, we’ll open sign ups for the July 28 Row for the Cure and August 4 Green Lake regattas.
•Welcome to our first set of 2018 Level 2 LTR class graduates–you have seen, or will soon see, our first batch of 10 graduates as they learn to love morning rowing. Say hi!
•Opening Day Results
Guided by coxes Brandy and Shana, the Station L men made a strong showing at a festive Opening Day regatta in Seattle last Saturday. The 55+ 8+, fighting back from a length down, missed winning back to back titles by about a deck.
•May 19 Spring BBQ Social Cancelled
We’ve got a lot going on–so no time to organize another party right now. We trust you can make your own party. 🙂
