Now Hiring!

We are looking for an experienced coach to lead our growing and successful masters women’s competitive sweep program.  The club has 140 members, with active competitive sweep and sculling programs guided by a group of 10 dedicated coaches.  In addition we have the largest adult learn to row program in Oregon.

The head coach position is supported by two assistant coaches and a club culture that allows the coach to focus on creating the best possible competitive opportunities for their rowers. The team travels to local, regional, and national races, as well as hosts multiple regattas in the Portland area throughout the year. The coach should have good working knowledge of proper rowing mechanics, techniques, training methods, race strategies, and be a strong communicator with Master’s rowers of all skill levels and abilities (learn-to-row through competitive).

Successful candidates will have 3+ years of coaching experience, preferably with Masters athletes.  USRowing Level 2 certification desired.  Oregon Boater Card and First Aid certification needed prior to beginning work.   A willingness to work in cooperation with our entire coaching staff is required.

The position is part time, mornings and weekends, with competitive hourly wages DOE.   If desired, this position can be combined with other coaching opportunities at the club in our sculling and/or learn-to-row programs.  The position reports to the club’s Program Director.

Starting date is March 1, 2017, but can be negotiated if necessary.

Please contact Peter Edwards, Program Director, for more information and to apply.  Include coaching resume and references.
