AMERICAN EXPERIENCE: The Boys of ‘36

At the Lewis & Clark College Templeton Student Center Council Chambers

Friday, July 29th- doors open 6:40 PM, show begins at 7:00 PM

Inspired by Daniel James Brown’s critically acclaimed book, “The Boys of ‘36” is the story of nine working-class young men from the University of Washington who took the rowing world and America by storm when they captured the gold medal at the 1936 Olympic Games in Berlin. Their unexpected victory, against not only the Ivy League teams of the East Coast but Adolf Hitler’s elite German rowers, gave hope to a nation struggling to emerge from the depths of the Great Depression.

The documentary will air on PBS on August 2nd–Meet local rowers and get a sneak preview at this FREE screening at Lewis & Clark College.
